He completed Chartered Accountancy course by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in the year 1975. He is a bachelor of Commerce from Madras University (1970)
He did his article training from K P Rao & Co., Bangalore. Immediately after qualifying he started the firm Nagarajan & Krishnan in the year 1975. In 1981 the firm was reconstituted and named as Nagarajan & Co.,
In addition to the practice he had wide exposure in the industry working in various capacities, which included, as chief accounts officer in the Hotel Bangalore International, Bangalore.
